14 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: Aug. 20-24

Lots of anniversaries this week. Gathering Place Brewing celebrates eight years of business and Station No. 06 has been around for six. On Sunday, Sprecher Brewing raises a glass to 40 years of beer (and soda). Cheers to four decades!

Wednesday, Aug. 20

Create a cool mosaic at a workshop at The Tap Yard – West Bend (4875 County Rd. Z) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include a beverage.

Sprecher’s Traveling Beer Garden comes to Sheridan Park (4800 S. Lake Dr.) until Sept. 1. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

Friday, Aug. 22

The final Wauwatosa Historical Society Brews & Blooms of the summer is happening at the Kneeland Walker House (7406 Hillcrest Dr.) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The beer garden includes live music and food trucks.

New Barons Brewing Co-op is pouring at the Fox Point Beer Garden (7425 N. Bell Rd.) from 5 to 9 p.m.

Torzala Brewing Company is at the Klode Park Beer Garden (676 E. Belle Ave.) from 4 to 9 p.m.

Try samples from Hinterland Brewery at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 2 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 23

Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.) celebrates eight years of business with a party that includes three beer releases and the Cousin’s Maine Lobster food truck. The fun starts at noon.

WMSE’s Backyard BBQ celebrates its 15th year from noon to 8 p.m. at the Humboldt Park band shell (3000 S. Howell Ave.). Lakefront Brewery is suppling the libations for the day of music and food.

Station No. 06 (6800 W. Becher St.) also celebrates an anniversary on Saturday. It’s appropriately their sixth, and it includes a pretty impressive tap list.

New Barons (2018 S. 1st St.) hosts a release party for Scrum Daddy, an oat lager brewed in honor of the Milwaukee Beer Barons Rugby FC.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee is pouring samples from Sam Adams (noon to 3 p.m.) and Indeed Brewing (noon to 2 p.m.).

Sunday, Aug. 24

The Great Milwaukee Brewery Bike Race is in its eighth year. Sign up to be a part of Team Riverwest (Gathering Place Brewing) or Team Bay View (Component Brewing). The race starts at 2 p.m. and riders head to the brewery opposite of their starting point for a beer before returning to the start of the ride.

The second annual Touch a Truck event at The Tap Yard – Waukesha (1927 E. Sunset Dr.) means that you can sip on great beer while checking out heavy machinery, fire trucks and other cool motorized vehicles.

Sprecher Brewery (701 W. Glendale Ave.) is throwing a 40th birthday party (hard to believe) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fun includes 80-themed live music, food trucks, and beer. Wearing your best 80s gear is encouraged.

Friday, Sept. 5: There a still a few tickets available for the next Crops on Top/Amorphic Beer dinner. These events are frequently sold out.

Saturday, Sept. 6: Layman Brewing (6001 W. Madison St.) is hosting a Beer Garden Bash to celebrate its fifth anniversary from 2 to 8 p.m. Also, the annual Ervtoberfest is happening at Erv’s Mug (130 W. Ryan Rd.) from 5 to 9 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 19: Raised Grain Brewing kicks off a two-day 10th anniversary celebration that includes some amazing beer releases.

Thursday, Sept. 25: The Yelp Beer Hunt comes to the Brewhouse Inn and Suites (1215 N. 10th St.). The evening includes a scavenger hunt involving several local breweries and a party at OnTap Bar and Restaurant. The event is free but an RSVP is required.
