Q: Can you name some good restaurant burger nights in the area?
A: Burgers are rarely a tough sell on a menu here. We love them as much as fish fries and pizza. And even restaurants not known for burgers as a regular menu item have jumped into the game – and in fine form, too.
One of my favorites is the (weather-dependent) Wednesday cookouts at Bavette (330 E. Menomonee St.), using the butcher shop’s grass-fed beef and changing toppings (such as feta, eggplant caponata and romesco sauce). Another is Goodkind’s (2457 S. Wentworth Ave.) Tuesday night heaven in a bun (Wisconsin beef and mega-toppings like Swiss, fried green tomato, chile butter and cabbage slaw).
Company Brewing (735 E. Center St.) offers a burger on its everyday menu but on Tuesdays they step it up with the Beer Coin Burger (the coin gets you a free beer), which has even featured a salmon filet on top of the beef patty. While those all will land your check over $10, it’s hard to beat Camino’s (434 S. Second St.) deal on Wednesdays – 3 bucks. So many good reasons to patty-load during the week!
