This year has been kind to comedian Amy Schumer. And she’s about to be very kind to Milwaukee. This morning she announced she’s embarking on a seven-city tour, and one of those stops is on Dec. 4 at our very own BMO Harris Bradley Center.
She starts her tour after debuting her HBO Special “Live at the Apollo” and performing on “Saturday Night Live.” Over the summer, her film Trainwreck saw considerable box office success despite its Judd Apatowian plot tendencies. And in late August, Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence said she and Schumer are writing a screenplay together. She revealed they’re set to star as sisters in it. Late next year, Schumer also is said to be publishing her first book, which reportedly earned her an $8 million (!) advance.
Schumer, 34, started as a stand-up comic but gained wider acclaim with her Comedy Central show “Insider Amy Schumer” in 2012. The sketch series is a showcase for her repertoire that tackles sexism and ageism in Hollywood, body image, self-esteem – and the perils of being a sloppy drunk mess.
This is the Pabst Group’s first collaboration with the BMO Harris Bradley Center, but the deal shouldn’t come as a surprise. Pabst Group has collaborated with the the Marcus Amphitheater, Colectivo on Prespect Avenue for its Backroom Series, in addition to the BMO Harris Pavilion.
Tickets for Schumer’s Milwaukee show go on sale Oct. 28 and prices range from $31.15-$104.55.
Here are a couple of our favorite “Inside Amy Schumer” sketches.
