A New Immersive Art Experience Is Coming to Milwaukee

“Deep Lake Future” tells a surreal story about the Great Lakes.

Combining the artistry of Beyond Van Gogh and Discovery World’s hands-on science experiences, FuzzPop Workshop is bringing a new immersive exhibition “Deep Lake Future” to Milwaukee on July 21.

Headed by Daniel Murray, founder of FuzzPop Workshop, the art experience will combine different multi-media elements, including music, theater, art and interactive pieces, like hidden tunnels and synthesizers. Visitors will be immersed in the story of being part of a research expedition to uncover strange scientist experiments. They will find a surreal world with giant creatures, based on the invasive species of the Great Lakes.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

“I’m excited to see how it defies people’s expectations. It’s a big, crazy immersive art project,” said Murray.

Originally from Whitefish Bay, Murray moved back to Wisconsin after two decades in California. He wanted to return to creative work and reached out to artists from many disciplines to collaborate on Deep Lake Future. The final product is a result of the work of over 20 local artists.

Visitors should expect a one-of-a-kind experience from the art installation, but Murray says it’s just the beginning for what he hopes FuzzPop can achieve. He describes Deep Lake Future as a prototype and precursor to an art warehouse that would offer permanent exhibitions, artist residencies, workshops and event spaces.

“My vision for the future is to stay with a regional story. I’m thinking about different ecologies, histories, cultures, landmarks and how we can turn them on their heads.”

You can discover Deep Lake Future at Var Gallery 5th St. on July 21. Tickets start at $15.
