Tickets for World of Beer Festival
One of the best beer festivals in the area takes place on Saturday, June 7. Surprisingly, there are still some $45 general admission tickets available for the 11th Annual Beer Barons’ World of Beer Festival at The Schwabenhof (N56 W14750 Silver Spring Dr., Menomonee Falls). Those who had the foresight to buy VIB (Very Interesting Beers) tickets, that are now sold out, have access to rare brews like Central Waters Sixteen, Epic Big Bad Baptist Batch 27, Sam Adams Utopias and AleSmith Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout. General admission tickets aren’t too shabby and include samples from nearly 100 breweries like Biloba Brewing, Ale Asylum, BrewDog, Brenner Brewing, Founders Brewing, Toppling Goliath and more.
Besides tasting, the event also features presentations from leaders in the brewing industry. Expect a knowledgeable beer crowd to show up at The Schwabenhof for this outstanding festival.
County Parks Beer Gardens on the Move
Beer gardens have been a huge hit in Estabrook Park and Hoyt Park. Now, thanks to Sprecher Brewing, traveling beer gardens are coming to a few other parks. Sprecher brings its beer, sodas and snacks to 12-day stints at six different parks. The list includes Root River Parkway South (June 4-15), McKinley Park (June 18-29), Doctors Park (July 2-13), Red Arrow Park (July 16-27), Greene Park (July 30 to Aug. 10) and Falk Park (Aug. 13-24). Each beer garden is open from 4 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, Sunday and holidays. Grab a souvenir glass pint or stein at one of the stops and follow the Sprecher tour for the summer.
Barley Pop of the Week
When the weather turns warm, fruit beers tend to work their way into my fridge. Hinterland Cherry Wheat is one that I don’t mind sampling from time to time. The refreshing hint of cherry and a relatively low ABV (5.4%) make it a good choice to combat the summer heat.
Quick Taps
Exciting news that Deschutes Brewery will begin distribution in Wisconsin on July 1.
This week’s specialty beer served during the Lakefront Brewery fish fry (Friday from 4 to 9:30 p.m.) is an IPA brewed with coffee. Interesting.
