The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center in Brookfield has won a $50,000 Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal arts agency that hands out over $5 million in Our Town grants each year. The Wilson Center was one of 66 groups chosen from 275 applicants, and they’ve announced they will use the money for a free, interactive sculpture garden calls ArtsPark in Brookfield’s Mitchell Park. Eleven other Wisconsin arts institutions have received different kinds of NEA grants this year, totaling $937,000 and ranging in amount from $10,000 to $780,000.  The Wilson Center’s Our Town grant is the third grant the center has received from the NEA since 2000.

Claire Hanan worked at the magazine as an editor from 2012-2017. She edited the Culture section and wrote stories about all sorts of topics, including the arts, fashion, politics and more. In 2016, she was a finalist for best profile writing at the City and Regional Magazine Awards for her story "In A Flash." In 2014, she won the the Milwaukee Press gold award for best public service story for editing "Handle With Care," a service package about aging in Milwaukee. Before all this, she attended the University of Missouri's School of Journalism and New York University's Summer Publishing Institute.
