Longtime Bucks owner Herb Kohl released a statement today saying that he’s looking for additional team investors. The main requirement – besides, ostensibly, a significant monetary outlay – is a shared commitment to keeping the team in Milwaukee.

“Over the next several months, I will be considering broadening the ownership of the Bucks as a way to strengthen the franchise and keep it in Milwaukee,” Kohl said in his statement. “In the event new investor partners are added, they will need to be as committed to keeping the team in Milwaukee as I am.”

Kohl has made no secret of his belief that the Bucks need a new arena to remain in Milwaukee. Doug Russell recently examined the issue in his October feature for Milwaukee Magazine entitled “Endangered Species.”
