Madsen and her character Sara Campbell are trapped in this at-times scary but ultimately replicated haunted house movie. Sideway’s Madsen, whose talents shouldn’t have been squandered in this film, manages to relay some authenticity as the mother of a cancer-stricken boy based on this true story. In order to be closer to the hospital where he is getting radiation treatment, the family moves into a creepy house where fright after endless fright ensues. As one wonders if the house is really haunted or if it’s just the boy’s hallucinations, the once genuine scares get more ridiculous until it made me wish The Haunting was just a hallucination.
