If you’re one of those women who’d rather reschedule a vacation than miss a Canvasbacks sale I don’t think you’re gonna like what I’m about to say, so I’ll give it to straight. The company which locally designs and manufactures a line of creatively inspired better sportswear that’s sold at 900 boutiques across the country has decided to redirect its energies to focus exclusively on the fabric end of their business. Sure, they’ve always been known for their high quality fabrics but still, the move is a shocker. But hey on the bright side, the company is holding a huge Warehouse Sale on June 11 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and June 12 & 13 (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) offering savings of up to 65 percent off their entire retail line. You’ll also have an opportunity to buy lengths of exquisite fabrics like hand painted silks and European wools. And for real fun shop an awesome offering of thousands of imported buttons so unique, you won’t find a plastic one among them. 239 S. Second St., 414–383-8160, canvasbacks.com.
Thanks to a sloppy spin in a pair of backless clogs during college, every now and then my heel kills me. So I was quite intrigued when I started hearing about Akaishi footwear. Incorporating cutting edge technology with innovative design, they’ve developed three lines of sandals precisely engineered to address different sorts of foot issues. There are models designedimprove posture and muscle tone, sooth foot and leg fatigue, and relieving problems like calluses, corns, bunions and painful plantar fasciitus. Well, I’ve been wearing a pair for over a month now and have experienced such a difference that I’m on a campaign to help everyone get the absolute most out of their stride this summer. What I like most is though they’re totally therapeutic you wouldn’t know it looking at them. For instance Kiku ($169, available in sizes 5 – 12), from their ‘Relaxation’ series features a lightweight massaging Paulownia wood moisture absorbing foot bed that flexes the sole, paired with a fuchsia Neoprene and chocolate leather upper that individually ventilates and spreads each toe for increased blood circulation. Sold exclusively at Foot Solutions, 10918 N. Port Washington Rd., Mequon, 262-241-3668, footsolutions.com.

Helping healthy sexual active adults keep the world green while having some fun doing it A Woman’s Touch (in collaboration with Batteries Plus) invites customers to drop off their used batteries at the store’s new Recycling station. I’m guessing given the popularity of their ‘toy’ department, disposing used batteries here should make a sizable dent in the toxic waste that would otherwise contaminate the environment. Look every bit makes a difference right? 200 N. Jefferson St., 414-221-0400, awomanstouchonline.com.
