The Skylight Music Theatre hosted its annual gala in full Indian fashion last Saturday at the Pfister Hotel just after closing out their run of a Bollywood-inspired Fidelio. But the Bhangra beats and dancing didn’t heat up until the Bollywood Bash after party, hosted by the SkylightENSEMBLE. Between sweaty sets on the dance floor, Viswa Subbaraman, Skylight’s new artistic director, said to me “We’re going to turn the Skylight on its head a little bit.” The popular DJ Bizzon and the Aarabhi School of Dance provided the authentic sounds and dance moves, while the entire crowd was looking very colorful…

The popular DJ Bizzon and the Aarabhi School of Dance provided the authentic sounds and dance moves, while the entire crowd was looking very colorful in silky saris.  The warm lighting, décor, and accessories were just enough to make you feel like you had been transported to the far East.
