The Man in the Kitchen
Y’all remember Pizza Man? The North Avenue institution? Thin-crust pizza. Wild boar ravioli. Hundreds of California wines by the glass. Contractors are busy resurrecting the Man in a new spot – 2597 N. Downer (the one-time location of Lixx Custard). Now, hold on to your wine glasses. Pizza Man has some man news — the identity of the chef who will make the pizza, pasta and other magic happen. That man is Zak Baker, who just left three-plus years at Lake Park Bistro. The 32-year-old Door County native spent close to twice that at Ristorante Bartolotta. Baker promises that the Pizza Man sacred cows (artichoke a la mode pizza, onion ring loaf) will return. More will be revealed as the weeks pass. Soon, I promise.
