8-twelve MVP Bar & Grill (17800 W. Blue Mound Rd., Brookfield) is, well, no longer “8-twelve.” Parent company SURG announced the restaurant’s new name – HŌM Wood Fired Grill – via social media today. The old name paid homage to Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and embattled Brewers slugger Ryan Braun. The new name effectively removes the sports figure connection, and no details were mentioned about Rodgers’ involvement in the new joint. The concept will push the local food angle, according to the website – drawing “inspiration” from Wisco “farmers, small growers, ranchers and local fishermen.” The menu will be released Oct. 7. Regarding the new moniker and concept, co-owner Omar Shaikh says he and partner Mike Polaski wanted a “hospitable and farm-like environment.” Shaikh adds that more will be revealed about the Bayshore location of HŌM (which formerly housed COA) next week.
