Fair Square
Dish on Dining covers Milwaukee-area dining and food-related events. Mission statement be damned. I can’t resist mentioning that this Saturday is the opening of the Dane County Farmers Market on Capitol Square in Madison. (To my friends who get up before the crack of dawn so they can arrive in Madison at opening time: You know who you are.) This is early in the season, but you will hopefully find morels, asparagus, rhubarb, lettuces, plus meats and cheeses, cut flowers, baked goods, and specialty items like honey and maple syrup. Market manager Larry Johnson says he expects to have as many as 100 vendors this Saturday. Sign up for weekly e-mail updates by clicking here. Saturdays April 16-Nov. 5, 6 a.m.-2 p.m.
Hunting Shoes
Who doesn’t love a good Easter egg hunt? And there is a (tenuous) food connection to this Saturday’s hunt at North Point Lighthouse (2650 N. Wahl Ave.). The main event is hunting for eggs, which have been hidden on the lighthouse grounds by none other than The Easter Bunny. Because hunting requires energy, the kiddies will snack on kringle, doughnuts, cookies and baked snacks. Those who find a golden egg will win a prize. Saturday, April 16, beginning at 10 a.m. sharp. No reservation necessary. $12 per child. ($5 for anyone older than age 12).

Peeps Show
This is candy… for the eyes. Nothing says Easter to me like the annual (awesome) Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest. Click here to see inspiring things one can do with these bunny-shaped marshmallow creations. My favorite might be “Inpeeption”….
You Vote, Therefore You Are
Our 2011 Readers’ Choice Dining Survey needs your votes. The more people who complete the survey, the better. If you have favorite restaurants, the only way to see them win is to vote. Plus, you might win one of six excellent prizes. So, come on. Do it! Click here to fill out your ballot.
