Brewers closer John Axford ended his 49-game save streak against the Cubs Friday. But Axford never got a chance to talk to reporters about it because he had to rush to the hospital with his pregnant wife, who had begun to have contractions. In lieu of the traditional press conference, Axford left a handwritten note explaining his absence. The note has since made the rounds on social media and garnered all sorts of praise. Of course it has. It’s pretty adorable.
As for the wife and baby? On Sunday, Axford reported the baby and his wife were doing fine after doctors ended the pre-term labor.
While the entire note is awesome, the kicker really is that heart-shaped “o” in love.
