Klemmer’s Banquet Center

Klemmer’s Banquet Center

On Thursday evening, I had the opportunity to tour Klemmer’s Banquet Center. Located on Oklahoma Avenue, Katie Klemmer and her family are approaching their 34th anniversary as the owners of Klemmers which was formerly The Williamsburg Inn. Walking into Klemmers with its traditional Williamsburg décor you feel as though you are being welcomed into someone’s home, which is essentially how Katie treats her many customers. On a Thursday night all of the six banquet rooms were filled which is a testament to not only the service but the food itself. Looking at Klemmers from the perspective of a wedding planner…

Looking at Klemmers from the perspective of a wedding planner I find there to be many positive features in the way the space can be utilized. We were seated in the Williamsburg room which is the largest space available. While it can potentially seat up to 350 guests for dinner, this would include seating many tables on the dance floor and the space may seem a bit cramped. A more comfortable guest estimate would be 250 which would leave the dance floor free and not require some guests to clear their tables before starting the music. The golden chandeliers and pink toned floral wallpaper border, while fitting with the Williamsburg design of the building, should not be a deterrent to the couple looking for a more modern reception vibe. It is amazing how linens and flowers can transform the look of an entire room and should always be kept in mind when selecting a reception venue. The main attraction of this room is that when renting the space for a wedding reception, you are also granted use of the adjoining Maryland room for your cocktail hour.  The rooms are connected by three large double doors that are opened simultaneously when guests are ready to for dinner allowing them to fully take in your grandly decorated dining room.

With many decades of restaurant service under their belts, the Klemmers offer a wide selection of food all prepared in-house. Dinner can be served buffet, family style or banquet style and they offer over twenty entrees to choose from including a special gluten free menu. If you have something particular in mind but don’t see it on their menu, Klemmers will work with you to create whatever menu item you have envisioned for your special day.

What particularly stood out to me about Klemmers was the welcoming atmosphere and sincere hospitality that is so important but is too often forgotten.
