Hansel and Gretel would be in heaven this month at Milwaukee
Public Market. I made my weekly trip for provisions and decided to see what all
the buzz was about on the second floor.

In between the throngs of people I caught sight of the most
spectacular and ornate creations made from cookies, candy and frosting.
There
were about 50 gingerbread houses, castles and palaces designed and built
 by
the MATC baking and culinary students lining the balcony of the Market’s second
floor.

Admirers had the chance to bid on the houses through a silent
auction. Funds from the sale of the houses will be used to provide additional
scholarships for MATC culinary students.

The houses are only on display through December 11th
so if you can’t make it down to take a look, see a few more snapshots of my favorite
creations.
