new program at The House of Harley-Davidson will get first-time riders on the classic bikes right away. The classes used to put riders on Buell Blast motorcycles – smaller bikes – but the class will now be taught on the brand new Street 500 motorcycles, which were revealed along with the new Street 750 at the 2013 EICMA Motorcycle Show in November.

The Street 500, with a suggested asking retail price of about $6,700, is a dramatic change from the Buell Blast motorcycles, which run for about $2,400.

The Buell Motorcycle Company was founded in 1983 by ex-Harley Davidson engineer Erik Buell, and became a subsidy of Harley-Davidson in 2003. After 26 years, Buell closed its doors on Oct. 30, 2009.

The House of Harley-Davidson, located at 6221 W. Layton Ave., will offer three-day and five-day classes that feature a new curriculum from the company and the Motorcycle Safety Council. The classes run from early April through November.
