When I get home from a long day of hair and makeup, I bust through our door, throw down my bags and stand in front of the open refrigerator with my coat on like a famished animal. The only thing that stops this ritual is if there is something shiny and new waiting for me on the counter. This time, it was a chic little white box adorned with a simple W. My husband laughed as I curiously opened the box and pulled out lipsticks, glosses, nail polish and other products.
It was like Christmas morning in the middle of spring.
What is this little white box? Wantable, a subscription box service based out of Milwaukee. I was very impressed with the selections sent to me, because unlike other subscription box services that mainly dish out samples, you get full- sized products (and maybe one sample) that are personalized just for you. Before receiving the box, I filled out a questionnaire that asked for my likes, dislikes, favorite colors – and I was pleased to see that the selections were actually items I would use.
My favorite find in my Wantable box is a lip gloss by Beauty For Real. It has a little mirror on the side for easy application, and I was hysterical when I opened the tube to find it had a little light you could click on when it’s too dark to see.
You can choose different boxes depending on what you want(able). Beauty: full sized and premium. Accessories: personalized and on-trend. Intimates: camis, panties, socks and more. Wantable prides themselves on sending boutique and luxury brands that you may not find on your own. And rumor has it they are adding another box, but it’s top secret.
Wantable is located in the Third Ward in downtown Milwaukee, and employees 23 people. Its buying and merchandising teams are always on the lookout for the newest trends and products. They also work with guest experts, like YouTube and media personalities, who help set trends each month. Wantable recently started working Jordan Liberty, pro makeup artist and founder of Liberty Republic, to launch an exclusive nail lacquer. Wantable also stays involved with local artists, and recently sponsored Timothy Westbrook for his ongoing fashion and art showcases. They’ll also have a presence at an upcoming fashion Blogger Bazaar this June.
