Who says work can’t be fun? Jessi Wrench and Jessica Purtell were looking for a way to make the most of their skills as event planners and fashion bargain hunters. They started Divine Consign in 2009, which they call a “community-based, one-of-a-kind shopping event,” to give them the best of both worlds.
Divine Consign is really a win-win for everyone. Consigners earn cash by selling their unused or unwanted clothing and shoppers can find scandalously good designer deals. I dare you to find a woman who doesn’t like the sound of that. The next Divine Consign sale will take place September 19-22 at the Zoofari Conference Center (9715 W. Bluemound Rd.)

Although it’s too late to consign for the September sale, check the consigner guidelines for details on how to sell your goods and receive 65 percent back in cash. Divine Consign accepts current fashions in great condition – everything from Louis Vuitton and Chanel to the Gap and Old Navy, to provide a variety of price points for shoppers.
The sales cater to women in all walks of life – from teens to mature adults – along with carrying a wide range of sizes (even maternity clothes) for every shopper. “I bet I buy 98 percent of my wardrobe at these sales,” admits Purtell. “I’ve scored designer jeans and amazing vintage pieces.” Taking place over the four days, Purtell estimates that more than 1,000 women walk through the sale. There is no fee for shoppers to attend and there are private fitting rooms and all major credit cards accepted. Divine Consign offers consign-ers the opportunity to donate their unsold items from each sale to select local charities that help women.
Now that’s good karma.
Can’t make it this time around? Wrench and Purtell organize three sales in Milwaukee every year. The remaining two will take place on October 17-20 at the Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay and November 7-10 at Oakwood Church in Hartland. If you need a spring/summer wardrobe refresher, Divine Consign also runs three sales at the same locations in the spring (dates are not yet set).
