The annual
Spring Art Walk in Delafield will bloom this Friday,
May 17th from 5-9 p.m., transforming downtown sidewalks along Genesee Street. Along with 26 artists and
vendors, more than 25 of the local shops will be open late. And better yet, it’s a free event.
The charming downtown
will morph in to a festive block party with live music and free carriage rides
while guests can shop for original artwork like, jewelry, metal and stained
glass, pen and ink, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, photography, plants, gourmet
olive oils, confections and jams.
There will also home goods, women’s clothing, jewelry and
handbags. And no festival is complete without live music and
food trucks. Flying Cow Pizza will be on hand and local musicians will be
performing at a handful of local establishments.
The event is presented by the Delafield
Area Chamber of Commerce and The
Downtown Business Group, which started a
Gallery Night more than 10 years ago but rebranded it in 2007 to the Art Walk.
“The
eclectic mix of visiting artists really creates interest in the
display of art found around the downtown business
district,” says Delafield Chamber Director Deb Smith.

gift shop have supported the event every year and are chairing it this time
around. “We have
always participated because it’s such a fun, festive atmosphere. People might
not shop that night, but they learn about us and return to shop.”
Like many outdoor events in Milwaukee,
attendance is at the mercy of the unpredictable Wisconsin weather, but Tracy
estimates that they see about 1,000 guests from lake country and Milwaukee on Friday
night.

to dine and take in all the action if you want a more relaxing experience.
