When Odd Duck’s executive chef Dan Jacobs isn’t cooking (and sometimes Tweeting photos of) plates like… beet salad with beet horseradish puree, purslane, beet green jam and dill crème fraiche… he’s teaching cooking classes. Not teaching classes every day, mind you, but take, for example, next week Thursday, Oct. 16. Jacobs will be at the Boelter Superstore, demo-ing heart-healthy cooking. The class is a Women’s Heart Awareness event offered through the Medical College of Wisconsin. You too can make turkey tacos with avocado salsa. Jacobs will offer samples and recipe cards. Boelter will also serve wine and light appetizers. Cost: $35. Reservations required. (4200 N. Port Washington Rd.) Oct. 16, 5:30-7:30 p.m. RSVP here.
