The old Brown Bottle Pub (221 W. Galena St.) – which lived 1938-1982, and again in 1986 to 2004 – had one of the coolest interiors in the city. Carved woodwork, a plaster ceiling, ornamental ironwork by the late Cyril Colnik, MKE’s master blacksmith. The oak was supposedly salvaged and brought over from Europe. Schlitz Park announced earlier today that the Brown Bottle’s reopening date – it will return for a third time – is Nov. 17 (for lunch and appetizers), with dinner service beginning Dec. 1. Davians and Schlitz Park are managing the restaurant, and chef Ben Hudson (recently of Bacchus) is running the kitchen. The initial lunch-appetizer menu will feature pulled pork and slaw; Waldorf salad with a twist; and Schlitz Park beer nuggets – beer-permeated pizza dough bites served with Schlitz beer cheese sauce. In its last life the home of Libiamo restaurant, the space has undergone minor cosmetic sprucing up, including new carpeting and seating. The kitchen has been completely renovated. Hours to start: Mon-Fri 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Lunch $10-$20. Hours, starting Dec. 1: Mon-Thurs 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fri 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sat 4-10 p.m. Dinner prices: $12-$25.
