“Stop, Shop & Restore” this weekend in Shorewood
Whether you hit the stores at midnight on Thanksgiving or are trying to score some internet deals this Cyber Monday, the stress of holiday shopping is probably starting to take its toll. If you’re willing to head out to Shorewood this weekend, you may find a reprieve from holiday stress at Stop, Shop & Restore. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, shoppers can enjoy a wide range of free services from participating businesses [PDF].  Go ahead and get that free hand massage and makeup touchup while noshing on some complimentary holiday goodies – you deserve it. While you’re at it, take those holiday gifts that are piling up and enjoy a complimentary gift wrap courtesy of Shorewood High School orchestra students. All the while the air will be filled with the sounds of holiday carolers and string/bass quartets spread throughout the district. Free trolley rides will even transport you to all the complimentary relaxation stations. And if you’re going to shop, be sure and save your receipts. The first 50 shoppers to show $200 worth of receipts (from participating businesses) at PNC Bank Shorewood will receive a $50 gift certificate to use anywhere in the Shorewood business district after Jan. 1. With the pressure on businesses large and small to gain your dollars, pampering customers certainly seems like it will give Shorewood businesses a leg up this holiday season.

Milwaukee Christmas Markets
Maybe you missed out on a deal. Maybe you’re looking for something a little more unique. Or maybe you just prefer shopping local. Whatever the reason, the South Milwaukee Downtown Market may be the stop for you as it hosts two Christmas Markets this season. Held at the Caterpillar Heritage Building (1970 10th Ave.), the market will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 3 and 10. More than 40 vendors will sell arts, crafts, organics, baked goods and other specialty items, giving you a good chance of finishing off that holiday list. The newly remodeled Bucyrus History Museum will also be open during the markets, and, as always, admission is free.
