Apple to launch “mini” stores at Target
For all the Mac-lovers out there, you may soon be able to purchase an Apple computer at local Target stores. According to AppleInsider, Apple will open 25 “mini” stores within Target locations across the nation as part of a new agreement. However, the Target/Apple partnership is not new – as early as 2002 Target was carrying the iPod within its stores. And in 2010, the iPad and iPhone were added to the growing list of Apple products available. Apple says this will be a “small start” as there are almost 1,800 Target stores nationwide, but the ultimate goal is to bring Apple products to markets that cannot support a standalone Apple store. Wisconsin has nearly 40 Target stores, but with two Apple store locations – at Bayshore and Mayfair – it’s uncertain whether our state will make the cut for one of the new mini stores.
Williams-Sonoma to close at Bayshore
Last week, Bayshore announced that upscale home retailer Williams-Sonoma would shutter its doors on Jan. 15. As with any store closing, my initial thought went to sales, but I’m not holding my breath. With a location at Mayfair and more than 250 other retail locations, it’s more likely merchandise will be transferred or added to warehouse inventory. As for the future of the soon-to-be vacant space, Bayshore General Manager Chris Jaeger said in a statement that the mall will “continue to pursue high-quality retailers that our customers have come to expect.” Sephora, anyone?
Bangles & Bags announces a new location
With locations already in Cedarburg, Delafield, Milwaukee and Waukesha, accessory boutique Bangles & Bags has announced another new store will open in Wauwatosa sometime in March. Interested in a sneak peek? Customers can check out the new store on “Diva Night,” scheduled for Feb. 16 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The new store will be located at 1504 Underwood Ave.
