99-Word Movie Reviews: Contagion

Old, but more relevant than ever

A lethal virus wreaks havoc across the globeTwo minutes in, you’ll think, “Oh God, I shouldn’t watch this right now,” before grabbing sanitizer. This flick predicts COVID-19 unbelievably well thanks to impeccable research from screenwriter Scott Z. Burns and director Steven Soderbergh, whose style captures both the cold detachment of a pandemic in which millions of lives become a statistic and the personal tragedy. Jude Law and Kate Winslet are cast standouts. Multiple charactersmultiple continents and a short runtime keep it thrilling. Contagion will stick with you like the damned, deadly germs on your dirty, unwashed hands.
