1. Milwaukee Paracon

Opening night of this celebration of Wisconsin ghost stories is on Oct. 14. The schedule celebrates local legends with discussions, film screenings, ghost stories and more covering all things paranormal in Wisconsin, including an update on the Beast of Bray Road. Frequent Milwaukee Magazine writer Tea Krulos is even moderating a panel called “Macabre Milwaukee.” The conference ends with an American Walks Bloody Third Tour – attend to hear ghost stories about the Historic Third Ward.
2. Twisted Dreams Film Festival
ALL WEEKEND | AVALON THEATER
This film festival is dedicated to different types of horror films. Milwaukee Paracon recommends seeing “ShakespearanShitstorm,” which plays at 9 p.m. Films start at 6:30 p.m. with the full schedule online.

3. “Spellbound: A Witches’ Ball”
FRIDAY AT 8 P.M. | LINNEMAN’S RIVERWEST INN
The witchy show features performances from The LOL, Tigernite, and Dora Diamond. There will be treats from Medusa’s Caduceus, and costumes are not required but appreciated.
4. Snowmobile USA Show in Milwaukee
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | WISCONSIN STATE PARK EXPOSITION CENTER
Friday is the first day of the two-day Snowmobile U.S.A. Show & Sale. The show will have clothing items, accessories and snowmobile parts. Maybe this year there will enough snow for you to ride one of the snowmobiles while you’re there!
5. Curd Fest 2022
SATURDAY AT 11:30 A.M. | DRINK WISCONSINBLY PUB
The festival starts with a half-mile run (or walk, or polka according to the event listing) to make room for the cheese curd samples that participants will enjoy throughout the day. There will be polka music, and The Cheese Lady, Sarah Kauffmann, will carve a 40-pound block of cheese.
6. Milwaukee Hard Cider and Doughnut Fest
SATURDAY FROM 2-8 P.M. | BROTHERS BAR & GRILL
This fall fest, with free doughnuts and a bar crawl, will feature four bars and restaurants along Water Street. Registration is between 2 and 4 p.m. at Brothers Bar & Grill. Some of the free donut flavors include strawberry frosted, cream cheese, honey dipped and blueberry.
7. Milwaukee Family Drive-in Movie Day
SATURDAY AT 4 AND 6 P.M. | MPS SCHOOL CENTRAL SERVICES BUILDING
Milwaukee Recreation is creating the classic drive-in experience this weekend. The drive-in will be showing The Addams Family 2 at 4 p.m. and Coco at 6 p.m. There is an admission fee of $20 per vehicle for each movie. Alcohol is prohibited but guests can bring their own snacks.
8. Roméo et Juliette
FRIDAY AND SUNDAY, TIMES VARY | MARCUS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette is coming to Milwaukee. The French rendition of Shakespeare’s famous play stars Milwaukee native Emily Pogorelc as Juliette and Duke Kim as Roméo, in his Florentine Opera debut.
9. Inaugural Harvest Art Fair
SUNDAY FROM 10 A.M.-3 P.M. | 2745 N DR MLK JR. DR.
The free event from the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation and King Drive BID is kid-friendly and will have food, games, raffles, art and live music.
