The party of the fall is upon us. MilMag editors are worrying about what to wear, and Editor Kurt Chandler is still working on his one-liners. But there might be some of you out there, in the faraway lands of Brookfield, perhaps, who haven’t quite gotten around to securing your tickets. Which is precisely why we’ve compiled a few more reasons why you absolutely, positively can’t miss our Best of Milwaukee Awards Party.

1.
Mayor Tom Barrett is commandeering the awards ceremony to present an award of his own, and well, there’s nothing we can do to stop him.

2.
We asked the fabulous John Dye and the much-heralded Bryant’s Cocktail Lounge to help us come up with a drink that embodies the spirit of this party. He invited us over to Bryant’s and let us sample seven of the most delicious cocktails we’ve ever tasted. Trust us when we say it was hard work. Yet we came out on the other side with the Pressroom Punch for all to try. So, what’s in this perfect fall-flavored concoction? Cranberries, hard cider and jalapenos, to name a few ingredients. And John Dye himself will be serving up the slippery stuff.

3.
When we first approached former Wauwatosan Grace Weber about performing at the party, we knew she had a new album in the pipeline. What we didn’t know was that songs from her new album The Refinery would be picked up by Refinery 29, Conan, Entertainment Weekly and BlackBook. Listen to the ultra-lush “Oil & Gold” below.

4. We’ve told you about the tasty eats, but we haven’t mentioned specifics. We can now divulge we’ll have a build-your-own mac n’ cheese bar with three different sauce blends and enough mix-ins to make your head spin. This is in addition to all sorts of delectable passed hors d’oeuvres.

5. Jon McGlocklin, the voice of the Bucks and the founder of the MACC Fund, will also be on hand. Will he force us to hold a dunk contest? Will he dunk the award plaques in our faces? Will he unveil a celebratory dance that puts Ickey Woods to shame?

You’ll just have to show up to find out.
