Burnhearts makes Draft Magazine's list for the first time, joining fellow Bay View bars Romans, Palm Tavern and Sugar Maple.

Big Props to Four Local Bars

The print version came out a few days ago, but Draft Magazine just posted the 2016 list of America’s 100 best beer bars online. Once again, Milwaukee has great representation among the best in the Midwest.

Regulars like Palm Tavern (2989 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.), Romans’ Pub (3475 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) and Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) returned. One notable newcomer was Burnhearts (2599 S. Logan Ave.), a neighborhood tavern that has been deserving of the prestigious mention for a while.

“It’s been a goal Burnhearts has strived for since (Draft Magazine) began running the list,” said Burnhearts owner B.J. Seidel. “To be named among Palm, Romans’ and Sugar Maple is an achievement in itself. To have all four bars from Bay View included in a list of the very best beer bars in the country is unreal—makes me proud of my neighborhood.”

With the explosion of really good craft beer bars in the last few years, making the list becomes increasingly difficult. And I can’t imagine what it’s like trying to pick the lucky 100.

“It’s absolutely more difficult than it’s ever been,” explained Kate Bernot, the beer editor at Draft Magazine. “In 2016, there are more bars than ever committed to serving great beer and providing good service, which makes compiling this list increasingly challenging. But it’s a wonderful challenge.”

Cheers to all of the great spots who earned a mention. And, cheers to Draft for all of the hard work.
