1. The Wolf on Broadway

600 N. BROADWAY

We’ve been waiting a long time for the secondborn in the Uncle Wolfie’s family of restaurants. Planted inside Downtown’s Kinn Guesthouse, The Wolf has kept its menu shrouded in secrecy, but we know this: Former DanDan chef de cuisine Kristen Schwab is heading up the kitchen, her most recent venture being the Asian pop-up Phat Dumpling. The stars may align for a late spring opening.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

2. Il Cervo

420 W. JUNEAU AVE.

A rooftop Italian place boasting a 4,300-pound stone-hearth pizza oven is one of the concepts expected to open at the swanky Trade hotel, under construction in the Deer District adjacent to Fiserv Forum. “The Deer” (that’s the English translation of its name) may be open as soon as spring.

3. Avli Restaurant

1818 N HUBBARD ST.

Most recently the site of View MKE, this two-level space in Brewers Hill is a modern Greek concept with several sister restaurants in Chicago. Casual (chicken souvlaki) will blend with lavish (phyllo-wrapped prawns) and live inside these transformed digs inspired by summers in Greece.  Projected to open in June.

4. 1033

1033 S. FIRST ST.

The owners of the Third Ward’s 2A Wine Merchants are the drivers of this refined/industrial project whose focal point is a 14-seat island bar. Ardent’s Justin Carlisle – whose Laughing Taco used to occupy the space – is developing the menu, which will feature shareable plates and a raw bar. Its debut is expected in late spring.
