1. Beloved by Toni Morrison

“On the one hand, I can’t believe it took me so long to start reading Toni Morrison. On the other hand, I have so much good reading to look forward to.”

CAROLE NICKSIN
publisher and editor-in-chief

2. The Wings of Fire Series by Tui T. Sutherland

“Harrison, my oldest, is devouring this series. He has read 12 of the 15 books during quarantine. I love it when he chooses a book over screen time!”

CHELSEA MAMEROW
senior designer

3. The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy

“One of the rare class of novels you want to read methodically, word for word, in hope of understanding the valuable truths behind every scene.”

ARCHER PARQUETTE
managing editor

4. The Secret History by Donna Tartt

“This book has been sitting on my shelf for years, and I’m so glad I finally got around to reading it. It’s about a group of New England college students who may or may not have murdered one of their friends, and it’s just as good as everyone says it is. I want to start Tartt’s The Goldfinch next.”

LINDSEY ANDERSON
culture editor
