3 New Things Coming to Milwaukee This May

A refill store, new EP and smokin’ new book are coming to Milwaukee this month.

1. Love Letter

Singer Hanna Simone embraces R&B, savoring the snappy grooves and honeyed melodies glimpsed in her previous releases. Standout track “Too Sweet” features candied synths and a verse from local rapper Emmitt James. The EP is out May 15.

2. ECO MKE

After a year of pop-up markets and a shelf at Indigo Plant Collective, this store of sustainable home, kitchen and bath products has opened its own storefront in Walker’s Point. Reduce waste by bringing your own bottle to fill up on dish soap, body wash, shampoo and more. 221 S. Second St.

3. American Bacon

Milwaukee-born author Mark A. Johnson cooks up a curious history of our country’s obsession with fatty strips of pork. The book winds through centuries of changing cultural and dietary beliefs and connects the meat to many unexpected forces shaping our era. It’s out now.
