It’s not surprising to see scores of shows throughout the holiday season that support local charities during the peak donation period, but the city’s music scene never got the message to stop when the clock struck midnight on 2014. This year has already seen two brand new fundraisers—Milwaukee Record’s Local Coverage event for Girls Rock Milwaukee and last weekend’s Riverwest FemFest for Milwaukee Women’s Center—and it’s not even February yet.
Just announced is another inaugural benefit—the largest so far in scope—a massive three-day affair, spanning multiple neighbors and supporting three area schools. The festival is called Arte Para Todos, or “Art for Everyone,” and runs Friday, February 27 to Sunday, March 1. The three days are broken up among the neighborhoods—Bay View gets Friday, Riverwest/Harambee gets Saturday and East Side gets Sunday. All proceeds from the event are split evenly amongst Bay View High School, Tamarack Waldorf High School and Escuela Fratney.
The line-up is utterly massive—boasting more than 50 bands—and encapsulates some of the best of what the city’s music scene has to offer. Four of the Best 10 Local Albums of 2014 will be represented, including Bliss & Alice, Whips, Christopher Porterfield (Field Report) and Canopies (plus NO/NO, the new project by former members of the Delphines, who landed at No. 6). Single event tickets run $7, day long passes are $12, but the economical and highly recommended three-day passes are just $20. See the impressive line-up below and for more information go to ArteParaTodos.me.
