20 Things to Do in Milwaukee to Celebrate Pride Month

Drag queen bingo, art exhibitions, a motorcycle ride and more make the list.

1. Shop Xero Resin’s Pride Collection

Xerione Illustration released a collection of pride-themed resin jewelry for Pride Month. The earrings are handmade by artist Yessica Jimenez, a visual artist based in Milwaukee.

2. Season 2 of Radio Milwaukee’s “Be Seen” 

TUESDAYS IN JUNE | ONLINE

Radio Milwaukee returns with the Wisconsin LGBTQ+ History Project to dive into Wisconsin LGBTQ+ history on the award-winning “Be Seen” podcast. Episodes are released Tuesdays from May 23 to June 27, and closes Pride Month with 2 bonus episodes. The first episode will focus on the storied Milwaukee Pride Parade. “Be Seen” can be found on all major podcast streaming platforms.

3. Letterpress for Queers: A Pride Month Demo

JUNE 1 FROM 6-8 P.M. | THE BINDERY

The Bindery is hosting a letterpress lesson for LGBTQ+ identifying people. The course delves into the fundamentals of letter pressing such as proper terminology and operation of machines. Participants will get to print copies of a pre-selected poster with a message in honor of Pride Month.

4. Wantable Café Pride Month Launch Event

JUNE 1 FROM 4-7 P.M. | WANTABLE CAFÉ

Wantable Café and the Wisconsin LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce are celebrating Pride Month with drinks, live music and outdoor activities. Pride T-shirts are for sale, with benefits going to Courage MKE, an LGBTQ+ charity focusing on youth. And you can buy raffle tickets for a chance to win a bottle of bourbon.

5. Pride & Pasta

JUNE 1 FROM 6-9 P.M. | ONESTO

Onesto is hosting a night of fine dining that helps the local LGBTQ+ community. The Italian restaurant will have a five-course meal on their second floor from Executive Chef Corrine Kaehler along with accompanying drinks from mixologist David Kiepert. The restaurant will donate 20% of sales from this meal to Courage MKE

6. LaCage Pride Kickoff

JUNE 1 FROM 9 P.M.-2 A.M. | LA CAGE

DJs AJ Dubbz and Carla Starla are collaborating at La Cage’s (801 S. 2nd St.) Pride Kickoff night. The duo will play a mix of 80s/90s, world beats, and remixed favorites to keep the dance floor flowing. The party starts at this Walker’s Point nightclub at 9 p.m.

7. “Be Gay. Do Crime: The Male Nude, 1945 to Present” Art Exhibition

JUNE 2-24 | THE ALICE WILDS

Part of QKE, a city-wide viewing of LGBTQ+ artists in the month of June, this art exhibition follows the male nude through the lens of various political movements. The opening reception is June 2 from 5-9 p.m. at the Alice Wilds gallery (900 S. 5th St. #102). Featured artists include Don Bachardy, Bruce Bellas and Wenjie Ding.

8. PrideFest 

JUNE 1-3 | HENRY W. MAIER FESTIVAL PARK

PrideFest returns to the Summerfest grounds Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. The festival is the largest LGBTQ+ festival in Wisconsin. It features five different stages and include performances from Totally Neon, Cazwell and Coven. On Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., bringing four non-perishable food items gets you a free ticket. The collected items go to Vivent Health’s food pantry.

9. Shaker’s Bar Celebrates Milwaukee Pride Fest

JUNE 1-3 | SHAKER’S CIGAR BAR

Shaker’s Cigar Bar (422 S. 2nd St.) is hosting two nights of live music and a pig roast to kick off Pride Month. The bar welcomes all (21 and over) to performances from Clarissa, a British Soul vocalist and pianist on the rooftop Friday night, and Prof. Pinkerton & the Magnificents on the Veranda during the Milwaukee Pride Parade on Sunday.

10. Ride with Pride

JUNE 3 AT 11 A.M. | HARLEY-DAVIDSON MUSEUM

The World’s Largest LGBTQ+ motorcycle ride is this Sunday at the Harley Davidson Museum (400 W Canal St.). Ride with Pride doesn’t discriminate based on the type of wheels – mopeds are welcome to join this highway-less ride with motorcyclists. Waivers are required for participants on this free ride around the city.

11. Amilinda’s Restaurant Benefit Dinner 

JUNE 3 FROM 5-9 P.M. | 315 E. WISCONSIN AVE. 

Aimilinda’s James Beard-nominated chef Gregory Léon will host a one-night benefit dinner for Pride Month. The restaurant, with a menu inspired by the cuisine of Spain and Portugal, will donate 30% of total sales to Vivent Health, a Milwaukee-based HIV care organization. 

12. RIOTNINE! Death Before Detransition EP Release Show 

JUNE 3 AT 6:30 P.M. | CACTUS CLUB

Local punk group RIOTNINE! is celebrating their EP release at the Cactus Club (2496 S. Wentworth Ave). Their style, a blend of 90s emo and post-hardcore is backed by fellow Milwaukee punks Social Caterpillar and more techno acts: Chicago’s Blind Equation and Flowers*. An art sale begins at the Cactus Club at 5 p.m. along with a silent auction to raise money for transgender justice funds. Fans of RIOTNINE! can join the group before their concert at Clementine Skate for a Queer Skate Sesh from noon to 4 p.m.

13. The EXperience – Pride with Ex Fabula

JUNE 7 AT 7 P.M. | FREIGHT 38

This noncompetitive open-mic night will feature people retelling their highs and lows throughout their journeys to establish their identities. And you can join in on the fun too, if you want. Tickets are available online

14. 414Flea Summer Series – Celebrating Pride Month!

JUNE 4 11 A.M.-6 P.M. | ZÓCALO FOOD PARK

414Flea’s June market centers around celebrating Pride Month, as it’s on the same day as Walker’s Point Pride Fest. You can shop over 70 different small businesses to find clothing, artwork and other rare finds. Food and drinks are available from eight different food trucks around the area. Free parking is available in the lot across from STUMP.

15. Milwaukee Pride Parade

JUNE 4 AT 2 P.M. | SECOND STREET

Last year’s Pride Parade returned with a massive turnout after a two-year hiatus. This year’s theme is “The Future is Ours” with a focus on optimism despite recent adversity to LGBTQ+ people. The mile-long parade starts at 2 p.m. on 2nd Street in Walker’s Point between Greenfield Avenue and Seeboth Street.

16. Milwaukee Brewers Pride Night

JUNE 7 AT 6:40 P.M. | AMERICAN FAMILY FIELD

The Milwaukee Brewers are offering fans a Pride Night package that includes a free Brewers Pride shirt with a ticket purchase. The Brew Crew play the Baltimore Orioles in a competitive night game.

17. “Zines are Queer” Exhibition

JUNE 9-18 | MARN ART + CULTURE HUB

MARN Art and Culture Hub collaborated with Moody, a local zine, to host an exhibition showcasing queer zine creators and artists. Local artists such as Sav Canales and Ophelia Hix will showcase their zines June 9-18. This event is a part of QKE, a collaboration between local LGBTQ artists and galleries that showcase artists work throughout the city during Pride Month.

18. Wisconsin Pride Screening

JUNE 9 AT 7 P.M. | ORIENTAL THEATRE

Wisconsin Pride has a red-carpet debut at the Oriental Theatre co-hosted by Milwaukee Film and PBS Wisconsin. The documentary is a collaboration between PBS Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Historical Society. Wisconsin Pride focuses on the fight for human-rights in the state and the movement’s key figures. Tickets are free and available online. 

19. Drag Queen Bingo 

JUNE 13 FROM 7-9 P.M. | LAKEFRONT BREWERY BEER HALL

Drag queen Ester Flonase is hosting a raunchy bingo night at Lakefront Brewery Beer Hall. Bingo is free to play and seats are first come, first serve. Ten sets of 3 game cards will provided for the ten games that will be played, but you have to bring your own markers or daubers. Prizes will be awarded for each game. 

20. Pride Month Engage and Activate: Diverse Professionals Forum

JUNE 20 AT 5:30 P.M. | COMPANY BREWING

Part of Milwaukee Film’s GenreQueer event series, this professional networking happy hour gives LGBTQ+ businesspeople the chance to connect. The event will also feature a short film during the forum. Drinks are provided.
