15 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: Oct. 7-12

It’s a big beer release week with Gathering Place’s Limb Shaker Day and Central Waters’ first Milwaukee release of Black Gold.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

The Bonsai & Brew Workshop comes to Pilot Project Brewing (1128 N. Ninth St.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For $85 you can learn how to pot and prune your own bonsai tree.

Wednesday, Oct. 8

The Milwaukee Beer Society takes a trip to Layman Brewing (6001 W. Madison St., West Allis) at 6 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 10

Three Cellars (N72 W13400 Lund Ln., Menomonee Falls) is the first place in Milwaukee to carry beers from Dimensional Brewing, and they’re throwing a release party to celebrate. Get there from 4 to 8 p.m. to try the new arrival from Dubuque, Iowa.

Component Brewing (2018 S. First St.) is releasing Pull Tabs & Chandeliers West Coast IPA. Each pour earns you a free pull tab. No word on free chandeliers. 

It’s a weekend of pumpkins at The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave., Greenfield). They’ll be pouring more than 10 pumpkin beers on Friday and Saturday.

Try samples from Waukesha’s Raised Grain Brewing (4 to 6 p.m.) and the locally brewed NA brand Mash Gang (3 to 5 p.m.) at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.).

Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) is offering samples from Boulevard Brewing of Kansas City from 3 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 11

It’s Black Gold release day for Central Waters Brewing, and this year for the first time the beer will be released at the Milwaukee taproom (1037 W. Juneau Ave.) the same day as the home base in Amherst. This year, it’s Black Gold barrel-aged imperial stout and a hot honey variant, both dropping at 11 a.m. As a bonus, Central Waters is also selling bottles of Brewer’s Coalition, a single malt whiskey from Virginia Distillery finished that was in casks that aged previous versions of Black Gold.

Gathering Place Brewing hosts its annual Limb Shaker Day, which means the release of Limb Shaker, Belgian-style tripel made with Door County cherries. The event runs from noon to 10 p.m. at both Gathering Place locations (811 E. Vienna Ave. and 7208 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa).

The Low Down block party is happening in front of Indeed Brewing (530 S. 2nd St.) from noon to 10 p.m. It includes vendors, live music headlined by Nashville-based alt-pop trio VEAUX, food and even beer poking.

The Wisconsin Brewery Running Series stops at Broken Bat Brewing (135 E. Pittsburgh Ave.). The casual 5K starts at 11 a.m. and tickets start at $45.

Namaste at North Pillar Brewing (212 E. North St., Waukesha) is a one-hour yoga session from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost is $20 and includes a free pint.

Try barrel-aged beer from Boulevard Brewing at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from noon to 3 p.m.

Raised Grain is offering samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha from 1 to 3 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 12

Component Brewing is pouring beer at Applefest, which takes place at the New Berlin Historical Society (19885 W. National Ave.) from noon to 6 p.m. It’s the brewery’s final beer trailer appearance of the year.

Thursday, Oct. 16: Brewery Ommegang comes to Tess (2499 N. Bartlett Ave.) for a five-course beer dinner. Call 414-964-8377 to make a reservation.

Saturday, Oct. 25: Pilot Project Fest is bringing nearly 30 area breweries to the Pilot Project space. General admission tickets start at $36.
