Trouble Maker’s Cocina has become a staple on the Bay View beer dinner scene. Chefs Arnie Gonzales and Martin Magana are coming to 1840 Brewing Company (342 E. Ward St.) this week at 6 p.m. For $75 you can sample four courses of their “Mad Mexican Food” paired with four beers from 1840 Brewing.
Wednesday, April 6
At 4 p.m., Amorphic Beer (3700 N. Fratney St.) is tapping That’s What I Appreciates, a mixed fermentation kettle sour made with mangoes and strawberry puree.

Friday, April 8
It’s an anniversary weekend for Broken Bat Brewing (135 E. Pittsburgh Ave.). The brewery celebrates five years with a weekend full of releases and food trucks serving ballpark-style items. They’ll also be showing off their newly renovated upstairs taproom and events space. Friday at noon means the release of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cracker Jack Stout and Junior, a rum barrel-aged Mexican chocolate stout made with vanilla and cinnamon.
Raised Grain Brewing Company (1725 Dolphin Dr.) is celebrating spring with Daisies and Hazies week. This means a week filled with food trucks and a Friday release of two new beers—9 Daisies Maibock and Badger Land Hazy IPA, made with Wisconsin-grown hops.
New Barons Brewing Co-op (2018 S. 1st St.) is releasing Black Bear Breakfast, a black IPA made with an assortment of hops, spruce tips and a hint of maple syrup. Get there at 3 p.m. to try some.
The weekly release at 1840 Brewing Company is Hops! Make It Big, a West Coast double IPA. Presale starts at 9 a.m. with pickup starting at 3 p.m. Try it on tap Wednesday after 4 p.m.
Saturday, April 9
The Broken Bat anniversary party continues with the release of the Concession Stand Series. The smoothie Berliner Weisse brews come in four variants—Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy, Cherry Rope, Lemon Italian Ice and Strawberry Banana Split.
Urban Harvest Brewing (1024 S. 5th St.) celebrates six years of beer with the release of Deux Stappen Belgian Dark Strong and Walker’s Point Cream Ale. They’ll also be tapping their annual PriBock spring seasonal.
Component Brewing (2018 S. 1st St.) is throwing a grand opening party for its new first floor taproom at 2 p.m. The festivities include live music on the patio (if the weather cooperates), a 50/50 raffle, giveaways and the Tots on the Street food truck.
It’s halfway to Oktoberfest, and Bavarian Bierhaus (700 W. Lexington Blvd.) is celebrating. They’re tapping a free Oktoberfest barrel at 3 p.m. and having live music starting at 6 p.m.
Author Mike Lukaszewicz is reading his children’s book, Daddy Likes Beer, at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.). How fitting. Get there at 2 p.m. and grab a pint for the reading. Kids can come too.
I’ve Lost Interest Pale Ale and Talking With Dinosaurs Stout—made with vanilla beans, cacao nibs and sea salt—are the two beer releases this weekend at Hacienda Beer Co. (2018 W. North Ave.).
Sunday, April 10
Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) provides a great chance to be active and drink great craft beer on Sunday. Yoga is happening from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 and the workout includes a free pint when you’re done. At 1 p.m., Bocce & Brews begins. The pop-up bocce tournament pits teams of four against each other. Registration is $100 per team and you’re guaranteed three games.
Discover your green thumb at the Plant & Sip Succulent Bar happening at Enlightened Brewing (2020 S. Allis St.) from 1 to 3 p.m. For $60 you get a container, four small succulents, some items like moss and stones to dress up your container, and a free beer.
