Keerah Yeowang, Milwaukee-native and winner of the 2021 United States of America’s Ms. Wisconsin, went on to win the national title of USoA’s Ms. 2022 this past February.
“Being crowned as United States of America’s Ms. 2022 was something I never thought I would achieve in a million years,” Yeowang says. “When I made it to the top two, holding USOA Ms. Mississippi’s hand and they called my state, I was floored.”
For the patriotic wear part of the pageant, Yeowang wanted to do something special to pay tribute to her heritage. She asked Lyn Kream and Lynne Dixon-Speller, from Milwaukee’s Edessa School of Fashion, to create a unique Black American Heritage Flag costume design.
“Ultimately, I am proud to be African American and to have such a special heritage,” Yeowang says. “What better way than to demonstrate it on a national stage?”

The USoA pageants are designed to encourage women to strive to achieve their hopes, dreams, goals and aspirations, while making them feel confident and beautiful inside and out, which is also Yeowang’s personal mission.
Yeowang works to empower women in all seasons of life to embrace their inner confidence and feel beautiful. As USoA’s Ms. 2022, Yeowang launched her national campaign “Confidence is Currency” to exemplify that mission.
“Once you crack the code to confidence, you hold the key to everything you want in life,” Yeowang says.
Off the stage, Carter is an entrepreneur and professional makeup artist who launched her own beauty brand, Poshmetics Cosmetics, to inspire self confidence in women and teen girls through makeup and beyond.
