This is What Space Smells Like is the weekly release at 1840 Brewing Company. The dry hopped fruited sour was made with Michael Ware, a VIP member who must be a Phish fan.
Thursday, Aug. 1
Check out Badger Bites during the Wisconsin State Fair from Aug. 1-11. The booth run by the beer-loving folks at The Tap Yards. They’re pouring a specialty beer from Central Waters every day at 3 p.m. during the fair. The first is Central Waters 26th Anniversary Barrel-Aged Stout.

Friday, Aug. 2
Try samples from Duvel (2 to 5 p.m.) and Explorium Brewpub (3 to 6 p.m.) at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.).
Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) is offering samples from Central Waters from 3 to 5 p.m.
Badger Bites is tapping a J. Henry Barrel-Aged Stout from Central Waters at 3 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 3
Try some of the best IPAs in the state at the 8th Annual Wisconsin IPA Fest, taking place at Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.). The tasting starts at 1 p.m. for VIPs and 2 p.m. for general admission. There will be food trucks, a DJ, and more than enough IPAs to sample. Tickets are $85 for VIP and $55 for general admission.
If you prefer your beer fests to be on the strange side, venture a few blocks from Third Space to MobCraft Beer (505 S. 5th St.) for Weird Fest. The annual block party runs from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and includes festivities like wrestling, belly dancing and a live mermaid, yup. MobCraft is also releasing five beers, including barrel-aged Crush! Creamsicle Beer.
Badger Bites is tapping a Maple Barrel-Aged Stout from Central Waters at 3 p.m. It’s made with barrel-aged maple syrup.
Sunday, Aug. 4
The RAY-borhood BBQ, Bourbon and Beer Bash is happening in the parking lot at Ray’s Wine & Spirits (8930 W. North Ave.) from noon to 6 p.m. Central Waters is bringing plenty of beer, and it’s a good bet they’ll be tapping a few rarities. There will also be boozy slushies, food trucks and fun for the kids.
Jigs & Swigs comes to Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.) at noon. The Irish dance-inspired workout costs just $15 and includes a post workout beer.
The daily tapping at the State Fair’s Badger Bites is a Butter Pecan Imperial Stout.

Aug. 8: Torzala Brewing (2018 S. 1st St.) is releasing Grave Digga, a barrel-aged stout. Former Packer Gilbert Brown, “The Gravedigger”, will be there too.
Aug. 17: Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.) is releasing three limited Belgian beers during its 7th anniversary party. Station No. 06 (6800 W. Becher St.) marks five years of business with a party that will include several rare beer taps.
Aug. 18: The Great Milwaukee Brewery Bike Race is happening between Gathering Place Brewing and Enlightened Brewing Company.
