10 Things to Do in Milwaukee This Weekend: April 7-9

A skydiving Easter bunny, Egg Day at the zoo, Doggy Day in the Deer District and more make the list.

1. NEWSKI Album Release Show

FRIDAY AT 7 P.M. | ANODYNE COFFEE ROASTING CO.

Milwaukee’s three-piece NEWSKI is celebrating the release of their new album, Friend Rock this Friday at Anodyne’s Walker’s Point location. The 90’s alternative revival album is paired with a friend or musical influence that performs on each track of the LP. 

2. Moonchild

FRIDAY AT 8 P.M. | SHANK HALL

The Los Angeles based alternative R&B band, Moonchild, is heading east for their spring-time tour and are sure to play hits from their latest release, Starfruit. Their debut album garnered praise from industry giants such as Jill Scott and Stevie Wonder.

3. Egg Day

SATURDAY FROM 9:30 A.M.-3 P.M. | MILWAUKEE COUNTY ZOO

Enjoy a scavenger hunt, face painting, egg hunt, Easter parade and more at Milwaukee County Zoo’s Egg Day. All activities are included with zoo admission, and you’ll get a set of bunny ears to look like the furry friend of the day. The full list of activities can be found on the Egg Day program

4. Doggy Day at Deer District

SATURDAY FROM 10 A.M.-4 P.M. | DEER DISTRICT

Bring your dog and enjoy food and drinks from over 60 vendors at Doggy Day. There will be live entertainment, doggy (and owner) activities and lots of prizes for your pups. This event is free and fun for the whole family.  It benefits Winston’s Wishes, nonprofit that supports dogs who may not do well in a shelter environment.

5. Broken Bat’s 6-Year Anniversary Party

SATURDAY FROM NOON-MIDNIGHT | BROKEN BAT BREWING

Broken Bat is celebrating six years of business with a non-stop 12-hour shindig. The brewery will release five new beers, and have a stadium-style concession stand hosted by Pop’s Kettle Corn, multiple food trucks, a Brewers baseball viewing party on the wiffle ball field (bring your own seats) and a DJ to close out the night. 

6. Breakfall Book Release

SATURDAY AT 4 P.M. | SUGAR MAPLE

Milwaukee writer Zhanna Slor just released her latest crime novel, Breakfall. She is celebrating with a book release party co-hosted by Lion’s Tooth at Sugar Maple in Bay View. Check out the festivities and maybe get a copy signed by the author herself.

7. Stand-Up Science

SATURDAY AT 7:30 P.M. | INTERCHANGE THEATER

New York City based scientist-turned-comic Ben Miller is coming to the Brew City for an evening of nerd-based comedy at the Interchange Theater. Last year, he had a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Now, he’s touring the country bringing science-based laughs to the midwest and beyond.

8. Jo Koy

SATURDAY AT 8 P.M. | MILLER HIGH LIFE THEATER

Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy is known for his sets about his blended family and home life, and has sold out venues across the country. He’s performing this Saturday at the Miller High Life Theater as a part of his “Funny is Funny” tour. A limited number of tickets remain, and can be purchased through the Pabst Theater Group website. 

9. The Get Down

SATURDAY AT 9 P.M. | MAD PLANET 

Get your spring-time boogie on at this weekend’s Get Down at Mad Planet. During the iconic dance night, DJs will spin the best tunes in genres like funk, soul, disco, Latin and more. The event goes through bar close, and is open to any 21+ community members looking for a fun night out.

10. Easter Bunny Skydive and Egg Hunt

SUNDAY AT 1 P.M. | W1341 CO. HWY L, EAST TROY 

Have you ever wanted to watch a bunny fly through the sky? That’s exactly what you’ll see at this free family event. And after the Easter Bunny does its 5,000-foot jump, kids can participate in an egg hunt and have the opportunity to take photos with the Easter Bunny. The Sky Knights will accept non-perishable food items at the event to donate to the East Troy Food Pantry.
