Where to Find Pie in Milwaukee for Pi Day

Your Guide to Pi(e) Day in Milwaukee

Here are some local spots to get your pastry fill on Friday, March 14.

YEAH, PEOPLE REALLY celebrate the mathematical constant pi (π) with pie on 3.14. Because it’s fun! And delicious. I always advocate for pie, regardless of the day. But especially on Pi Day. Here’s a roundup of places to get your sweet pastry fix.

1. Honeypie

2643 S. KINNICKINNIC AVE. | 414-489-7437

Honeypie makes specialty, cream and fruit pies. I can’t tell you exactly which flavors will be available (they tell me it’s their crazy busiest day of the year, so), but examples of flavors they periodically make include chocolate pistachio cream, salted caramel, blueberry, apple-cherry, caramel apple, whiskey walnut pecan, bourbon fudge and banana cream. Go on in and check out the case, but go early. Pies available whole and by the slice. Open 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

2. The Bake Sale

6923 W. BECHER ST. | 414-543-4230

This West Allis spot – which sells baked goods from other local vendors and pies made in-house – will have various unknown (to me) flavors, but quantities are limited. Open 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

3. Elegant Farmer

HIGHWAY ES AND J, 1545 MAIN STREET, MUKWONAGO | 262-363-6770

Famous for its ultra-sweet Apple Pie Baked in a Paper bag, the baker is offering a $3.14 discount on 5-inch apple pies through March 14. Open 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

4. Blue’s Egg + Bakery

317 N. 76th St. | 414-299-3180

The West Side restaurant and bakehouse has been celebrating all week, with specials happening through Saturday, March 15. For the pies available inside the restaurant, there’s this deal: $3.14 off any whole pie in the case. Flavors you might find are Irish cream, French silk, Dutch apple, salted brown butter and key lime. If you’re dining at Blue’s Egg or sister restaurants Maxie’s and Story Hill BKC, all are offering a buy-one, get a second half-off special on pie slices. Open 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

5. SmallPie

2504 E. OKLAHOMA AVE. | 414-763-7067

If you’re reading this, you’ve likely missed the cutoff to order a while pie ahead of time. But all is not lost. This offshoot of Honeypie will have a limited selection of slices and whole pies available for walk-in customers. Open 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

6. Bakehouse 23

1309 MILWAUKEE AVE., SOUTH MILWAUKEE | 414-304-5151

This totally great little spot will have pie. And knowing baker/co-owner Sarah Mironczuk, it’ll be awesome. She says there will be limited quantities of pie, whole and by the slice. Flavors include key lime with meringue, salted caramel banana cream, French silk, PB Cups, vegan apple, and vegan/gluten-free cherry slices. Open 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
