You Saucy Thing

You Saucy Thing

We review Milwaukee-made Colonel Pabst Worcestershire sauce.

Worcestershire sauce is one of those pantry essentials for sauces, soups, meatloaf, and that Sunday brunch fundamental, the bloody mary. Is it really worth popping for a higher-priced sauce?

You can ponder that with your Lea & Perrins, or just spring for MKE-made Colonel Pabst Worcestershire, whose No. 1 ingredient is Lakefront Brewery amber lager. The Colonel’s sweet and salty plays nice in a tangy, cider-vinegar-ketchup BBQ sauce.

And in meatballs. Did I mention meatballs? Worth the extravagance. Two sizes ($9 and $14), at Sendik’s, Outpost Natural Foods & others; colonelpabst.com.

‘You Saucy Thing’ appears in the March 2016 issue of Milwaukee Magazine.
