MEET MORE OF OUR 2026 WOMEN OF DISTINCTION
When Melinda Stuart purchased Smart Moves in 2017, she got to work at the ground level. The boutique move management service delivers a level of personalized care that meant Stuart got to know each client closely.
“Helping people through such an important transition is a great feeling,” she says. In the almost 10 years since then, she has expanded Smart Moves significantly, building a team of transition specialists and move managers who treat every client with care. “As our business has grown, I’ve loved supporting our team members and helping them grow and develop,” she says.
“I’m inspired every day by the passion our team brings to work.”
Q&A
What are your goals for the future?
I recently became part of the NASM board, so I’m really focused on raising awareness of our industry with other partners that are serving our same clients. And then just setting the expectation that when you hire a move manager, you’re going to be taken care of, and that people know they can count on count on smart moves to help them.
What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I started in this business, we were small. We had eight people part time. We were renting a space, and then going from that to now our team of 30, realizing that as changes happens and growth happens, we need to adapt our systems because what fit at one time isn’t going to fit anymore. That’s been the biggest thing – knowing when a change needs to happen.
