What You Need to Know About This Year’s Downtown Dining Week

Hey, if you love restaurants and also love a deal, you’re in luck.

Downtown Dining Week is quickly approaching – this year, it runs Sept. 8-15. What that means is you can hit as many as 28 Downtown Milwaukee restaurants and experience some of their specialties on specially designed prix fixe menus for lunch and/or dinner.

Participating restaurants include ARIA at Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel, Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria, Café at the Pfister, The Capital Grille, DOC’s Commerce Smokehouse, The Knick, Flourchild Pizza, Onesto, Stella Van Buren, Third Coast Provisions, Turning Tables Tavern & Eatery and Ward’s House of Prime.

We want to see your best work. Architects, interior designers, renovation experts and landscapers: Enter your residential projects in Milwaukee Magazine’s new design competition.

The prix fixe menus are $15 or $25 for lunch and $35 or $45 for dinner. Also, those who’ve had a DDW meal can complete an online survey and have the chance to win a dining gift card.

To whet your appetite for this event, organizer Milwaukee Downtown BID #21 has now released the menus for DDW. For example, if you go to ARIA for dinner ($45), you get a choice of soup or Caesar salad, entree (Broast-ish chicken, hanger steak frites, salmon salsa verde or grilled baby eggplant with quinoa and pomegranate tabbouleh) and seasonal tart for dessert. Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
