The news release announcing West Allis’ upcoming Slingshot Bar includes the hashtag #slingshotsandshots.
In many ways, this hashtag summarizes the whole story, but despite that we will endeavor to provide further information about the announcement.
Bars and Recreation announced on Wednesday that the company would be opening Slingshot Bar in West Allis this fall at 6325 W. National Ave. The building was formerly home to CasTech Inc. before being purchased by Bars and Recreation in 2022.
The company is behind other activity-based restaurants and bars around the city, including Amped (karaoke) AXE MKE (axe-throwing), Nine Below (mini-golf) and The New Fashioned (among several activities, hyperbowling, which three intrepid young Milwaukee Magazine journalists tried for themselves last year.)

According to the news release, Slingshot Bar is “the next hottest concept in eatertainment.”
“During the day, we want this to be a fun place for family gatherings and adventurous birthday parties. Then at night, we’re going to create an electric bar atmosphere, complete with the plinking sound of slingshots hitting targets and the cheers of successful shooters in the background. It’s going to be awesome,” said David Poytinger, Bars & Recreation’s co-founder and COO.
The facility will have a full bar, an “open range” for shotting slings, safety training from range marshals, and a private event space.
“West Allis is on the rise, and businesses like Bars & Recreation are fueling that momentum,” said Mayor Dan Devine in the news release. “Slingshot Bar is bringing something energizing and unique to National Avenue, and I can’t wait to see people taking their best shots.”
