Imagine MKE released a video tribute to Milwaukee today, aka April 14, aka 414 Day. This is the third year that the arts and culture organization has commemorated the day with a video.
This year’s video, made by Milwaukee-based director Samer Ghani, showcases public art projects, festivals, the Bucks championship parade and local entrepreneurs, like Pete Cooney of Pete’s Pops, Daniela Varela of Ruby’s Bagels and Tenia Fisher of Social X MKE. Other highlights include the ribbon cutting ceremony at America’s Black Holocaust Museum’s new location, a show at the Cactus Club, and the renovation of the Moody Park basketball courts.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
Newly elected mayor Cavalier Johnson makes an appearance alongside County Executive David Crowley. The video is set to the reading of a new poem by city and state poet laureate Dasha Kelly Hamilton called “Fire Light,” which reads in part:
“The sunbelt beams fan wide, reach deep
Pour out our brand new day, in abundance
Melting promise
Across every streetscape and rooftop
Waking rays tap shoulders and windows
Conspire with glass and metal gleam
To synchronize our intentions
reset a collective attention
Forward”
