The Turner Hall Ballroom may be known for its lineup of national acts, but this weekend it will turn its focus to Milwaukee’s music scene. Four local bands will perform on Aug. 25: Social Cig, Fellow Kinsman, Diet Lite and Bug Moment. The acts will bring indie, surf rock and some “emo-adjacent” entertainment to dedicated supporters.
Parker Schultz, founder and frontman of Social Cig says that after four sold-out shows at Pabst Theater’s smallest venue – the Colectivo Back Room – Turner Hall Ballroom is the next step in the band’s progression. “All of the bands are really excited about the opportunity. It’s going to be a celebration of the end of summer but also all of our hard work to get here,” Schultz says.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
Schultz also adds that the camaraderie between bands and audiences in the local scene is stronger than ever. This in part has come from Milwaukee’s blossoming DIY show scene and a stream of constant interest since the COVID-19 pandemic. “I think I can speak for everyone in that people were itching to see live music again and there was a lot of support for bands trying to get back into it,” says Schultz.
The all-local bill at the Turner Hall Ballroom marks an important step in the recognition of Miwkauee talent and a music scene that is primed to grow with its local fanbase.
“There’s just mutual love between us and the people who come see us and we’re excited to see where it goes,” Schultz says
