Yeah, your food mind is consumed by thoughts of turkey and pumpkin pie right now. Understandable. But there’s room for your brain to hold some dining news that may impact your pre-Thanksgiving plans. The much-anticipated Shorewood restaurant C-viche (4330 N. Oakland Ave.) opens Tuesday, Nov. 22. Kitchen hours will be Tuesday-Saturday 4-9 p.m.
This is the second C-viche location. Its first – which has been open since 2016 – is at 2165 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. in Bay View. The Shorewood menu, with a focus on dishes from Spain and Central and South America, mirrors Bay View’s.
On offer are several kinds of ceviche (raw seafood “cooked” in fresh citrus juice), appetizers like patatas bravas (Spanish spicy potatoes) and grilled octopus; entrées such as lomo saltado (a Peruvian stir fry), escabeche de pescado (Peruvian pickled fish), scallop tacos and pollo a la Brasa (Peruvian roast chicken). For dessert, tres leches cake and alfajores (sandwich cookies filled with duce de leche) are among the choices.
The Shorewood restaurant won’t be open on Sundays right away – January is the expected rollout date. Co-owner Karlos Soriano is working on the Sunday brunch menu.
The dining room includes both a four-seat ceviche bar (across from the open kitchen) and a cocktail bar that seats 10.
