“Good Things Brewing” was a phrase the Visit Milwaukee team started using early on in the pandemic to uplift the city during a difficult time, Communications Director Claire Koenig says. They didn’t expect it to transform into something bigger – the tourism bureau’s first-ever TV show, produced locally by Plum Media.
Event planner David Caruso hosts, traveling around the city with some of Milwaukee’s biggest local ambassadors – including DJ Shawna, longtime judge Derek Mosley and restaurateur Paul Bartolotta – who show Caruso their favorite spots around town.
VOTE FOR MILWAUKEE’S BEST BEER!
What’s Brew City’s best? We’ve picked 16 of our favorite Milwaukee craft beers for a March Madness-style tournament, but it’s up to you to pick the winner! Will it be bright and hoppy? Dark and malty? A zippy lager? Every one is worthy of the title; who will claim the sudsy crown?
“The guests are some of the people who care the most about Milwaukee,” says Caruso. “They’re the people who believe in everything this city is about, and the people who are doing what they love to do within our city, with the desire to make it a better place.”
The show features everything from iconic landmarks like the Pabst Theater, to small restaurants that pack in big flavor, to important spaces like America’s Black Holocaust Museum. Not all of the spots are obvious – some might surprise even a knowledgeable local.
“We always say Milwaukeeans are our best ambassadors,” says Koenig. “No one has more pride in the city than a local.”
The first episode will air Feb. 18 on TMJ4 in Milwaukee and eventually across 11 other Midwestern markets including Chicago and Minneapolis as a way to bring new visitors to the city.
