This New Deli Has Moved Into the Spot Once Home to Soup Brothers

Head to this Walker’s Point deli for bagels, egg sandwiches and lunchy items.

Walker’s Point has had a lonely empty storefront these last several months. That’s 209 W. Florida St. – which had housed Soup Brothers, may it rest in peace. Salvation has come to that address and its name is Hen’s Deli, which grand opens Thursday Dec. 22 at 9 a.m.

The deli – created by the couple who operated Clarke Street Sausage Co., a fixture at the Riverwest Farmers Market for the last few years – is focusing its efforts on breakfast and lunch. The menu, posted on their Facebook page, reflects about 80% of what they’ll offer. Bagels can come smeared with cream cheese or made into an egg sandwich or a vegetarian sandwich they call a bagel levantine.

Other lunchy items are a pork pastrami with “horsey” mayo, Swiss and pickled onions; three kinds of sub sandwiches; and a torta special (pig tongue). Beyond all that, they’re offering coffee, soft drinks and “incomparable ambience.” Now, that’s what I like to hear.

Hours (after the holidays): Tues-Sat 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
