The most recent addition to this season’s cast of singers on “The Voice” is a Milwaukee native. Her name is Anna Grace, and she’s 20-years-old.
Monday’s episode of the NBC reality singing competition included her audition with the song “my future” by Billie Eilish. All of the coaches – Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Nick Jonas and Blake Shelton – turned their chairs for her. That makes Grace’s audition a rare and coveted four-chair turn, of which there are only a small handful each season.
That also means that Grace got to listen to four musical legends fight for her affection. Here’s a bit from each of their pitches:
“I love all the nuance that you showed, and you made such cool choices musically. It was really, really beautiful,” Legend said
“I’m going to go ahead and start coaching you as if you did pick me,” Clarkson said before providing some tips. “Even with the shaky parts, it was so intimate and believable.”
“I loved it and I do think that you’re somebody that has to be protected on a show like this, and not let too many outside influences from the path you want to be on,” Shelton said. “Nick even turned to me during the audition and said ‘Man, she would sound great doing country,’ and I was like, ‘Nick, I don’t think she would sound good doing country at all. I don’t think that’s her thing.'”
“In all seriousness, I love your voice and it would be an honor to coach you,” Jonas said.
Before her audition, Grace told the camera that she hoped to be on Team Kelly, and she stuck to her plan come decision time.
“This is probably the happiest I’ve ever been,” Grace said. “It literally means everything to me to have this chance and have people believe in me.”
