This Festival Celebrates Local Indie Comic Artists

Cartoonists, illustrators and comic artists will come together Sept. 10 at MILK Comic Fest.

No, MILK Comic Fest does not feature a super squadron of milk cartons fighting crime. The second annual Milwaukee Indie Local Comic (MILK) Fest is a free event at The Cooperage on Sept. 10 that features cartoonists, illustrators and comic artists. Organizers Hali Fisher, Hannah Hallman and Quinn Blackshere started the event to bring local comic artists together.

Architects, interior designers, renovators and landscapers: Submit your best work for consideration!

“We’ve always been like, oh, we should start a comics festival of our own,” says Fisher. “And then last year we were like, ‘Let’s do it.’”

The festival gives artists an opportunity to showcase and sell their creations to fans who share the same love for comics. “To actually have a conversation with someone who’s as passionate as we are, that’s the best part,” Fisher says.
